Space Law Journal collects very little about you. This page says what, why, and how to get it removed.

Who we are

Space Law Journal is published at spacelawjournal.com as a joint initiative of Legal Desire Media and Odyogeek. For data protection purposes, enquiries can be directed to space@legaldesire.com.

What we collect

When you read the site

Our hosting provider records standard server logs, which include your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request. These are used to keep the site running and secure, and to diagnose faults. They are not used to build a profile of you.

We use analytics to understand which articles are read and how people arrive at the site. Analytics data is aggregated and we do not attempt to identify individual readers from it.

When you email us

If you write to us, we keep your email and its contents so that we can respond and, where relevant, so that we have a record of an editorial exchange. Submissions correspondence is retained for as long as the piece is published, plus a reasonable period afterwards.

When you contribute

If we publish your work, your name, role, organisation and biography appear on the site as you supplied them. That is publication, not private processing, and it stays up unless you ask us to remove it and we agree there is good reason to.

Cookies

WordPress sets a small number of functional cookies, principally for logged in users and for comment forms where these are enabled. Analytics may set cookies to distinguish repeat visits.

We do not run advertising trackers or sell data to third parties. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will continue to work.

Third parties

The site is hosted by a commercial hosting provider, and pages may embed content from third parties such as video platforms where an article requires it. Those services set their own cookies and have their own privacy policies. We link out to official sources constantly, and those sites are outside our control.

Legal basis

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on legitimate interests for server logs, security and aggregate analytics, and on your consent where consent is required for non-essential cookies. Where we process correspondence, we rely on legitimate interests in running an editorial publication and, where relevant, on the performance of an agreement with a contributor.

Your rights

Depending on where you are, you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive a copy in a portable form. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

To exercise any of these, write to space@legaldesire.com with the subject line Data request. We will respond within one month.

Retention

Server logs are kept for the period our hosting provider retains them, typically a matter of weeks. Analytics data is retained in aggregate. Correspondence is kept for as long as it is relevant to the editorial relationship.

Children

This site is intended for a professional and academic readership and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of the page and, where the change is significant, note it on the site.
